Friday finds: Saint Laurent striped wool blazer

We can't think of many things better than discovering a new wardrobe workhorse. I'm talking about those pieces that every woman has in her closet that are so versatile they can be worn almost anywhere and become the foundation of countless outfits.

Of course, this is exactly how we think of our classic silk shirts. They've been styled for the office, worn to weddings, gone horseback riding and served as both a pajama top and a swim cover up. It doesn't get much more versatile than that.

Enter this nifty little Saint Laurent blazer. It's bold yet classic, sharply tailored and so, so cool.

The bold black and white pattern would look great with a pop of color, especially in the form of a bold shoe, but I think there's something restrained and elegant about sticking with black and white. Maybe it's fashion month fatigue, but I think an old school aviator and some sexy plain black sandals are exactly what the doctor ordered.

What I love about this outfit is that it can be worn in so many places. I see this looking great at the office, a weekend brunch or a casual day time party.

The great thing about a blazer is they will elevate even the most basic outfit. You know those days when you're in jeans and a bummy tee shirt and you get a last minute call to meet a friend for lunch? All you have to do is throw on a great piece like this and you're sorted. Add lipstick into the fold and it will look like you put in quite a bit of effort.

I'm not going to lie, the price tag is hefty on this baby. But even if you don't rush over to Net-A-Porter to scoop her up, maybe use this as a bit of inspiration. It's irrelevant whether your ultimate purchase is the real deal, a lucky vintage find, a high street knock off or custom made by your tailor. The point is to seek out and acquire these classic, well-fitting, wear-with-everything bold pieces. It beats a Zara impulse buy any day.
