3 ways to style your White Shirt Wednesday

A classic white shirt / black skirt combo

It goes without saying that black and white are the ultimate duo. As such, I am always on the hunt for the perfect black and white skirt, which looks just amazing with my favorite silk shirts.

I'm a huge fan of buying classic pieces with a bit of a twist that will last for seasons to come. A perfect example is this great Dolce & Gabbana skirt. It's long enough to wear to the office, bold enough to demand a bit of attention and classic enough to be worth the splurge.

The Prim, the Provocative and the Preppy

For today's White Shirt Wednesday I thought it would be fun to show a few different ways to style the exact same classic outfit featuring our Bettie Shirt in Stark Naked White and a Dolce & Gabbana gingham ruffle hem skirt.

The Prim

The first option is by far the most obvious. We're pairing the skirt and shirt with a classic shoulder bag and no-nonsense pumps.

But don't be fooled, the bag is Chanel and the pumps are ankle-breakingly, toe-achingly high. This is not a flashy look, but it's sure to get you noticed in the best way possible. Perfect for power lunches and committee meetings. This is a look best reserved for tiger moms with impressive digits on speed dial.

The Provocative

See how the ultra slim skirt has a sexy little ruffle below the knee? So did the Provocateur.

Play up the sexy silhouette with down-to-here cleavage, sheer ankle strap sandals and a pop of red for contrast. Pair with a bright red lip and sultry eyes. This figure flaunting ensemble is a surefire way for your inner vixen to sizzle on summer evenings.

The Preppy

A prep needs gingham like gin needs tonic. And polkadots never hurt either.

The Prep has taken the classic black and white gingham pattern and added a few polkadots for maximum effect. It's youthful and playful and definitely a great take on this classic style, without compromising any of the polish.
