In Gloria's words

I am an entrepreneur and die-hard travel enthusiast. I created trip4real in 2013 from my home city, Barcelona, to connect travelers looking for authentic and tangible travel experiences with passionate local guides. It is a peer-to-peer platform that enables local residents to create an activity to share with travelers and earn money for providing their local expertise.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Tourism, Advertising and Public Relations from the University of Barcelona as well as a Master’s degree in Marketing, Sales Management from ESIC Madrid and a Master in Internet Business from MIB, Isdi. Prior to founding trip4real, I worked for Hilton Hotels & Resorts in Barcelona, Hewlett Packard managing the Apple Channel Iberia and for a Global Google Partner dedicated to Google Apps, Revevol as the Director of Marketing in Sydney, Australia.

I have never stopped for a moment, and I have always been connected to traveling and tech. If you ask me, that is the perfect combination!

When I was 11 my father moved the entire family to Chicago for his work. There is where my love for travel and discovery begun. From then on I have embarked on a life of studying abroad, working in other countries and making connections around the globe.

Whilst travelling for six months throughout Southeast Asia and India (the most inspiring trip of my life), I devised the trip4real concept to change the rules of the tourism business and the company was born. The trip to Asia changed something inside me. I realized it was amazing to discover new ways of doing things, to discover new cultures and especially to meet people from around the world.

Traveling opens your mind. That moment when you connect with someone local in your trip, it is the moment that you always remember. Locals can take you somewhere which makes you think, ‘Wow’, and that is what trip4real is all about.

We have been around for just two years and I am proud to say that we have become leaders in the European market for peer-to-peer travel experiences. Also, I am one of the few women that have founded and led a start-up. According to different studies, only 1 out of 10 start-ups have a female CEO. I went one step further, my team is 80% women!

My life as a business woman is about finding partnerships, international expansion, business development and investments. It is a huge responsibility and it is not an easy task, but I have managed to be successful and have fun with it.

I believe that the only way to be truly successful is when you love what you do so much that it is not a job anymore. It sounds cheesy, but it is true. As a CEO, I always remind my team that you need to have passion for what you do and love the environment and people that you work with. As a young startup we have accomplished that, and I am very proud of it.

I hope that travelers around the world join the trip4real movement and meet locals that guide them in the places they visit. You can now do a trip4real in any city in Spain as well as in Paris, Rome, Lisbon, London, Amsterdam, Edinburgh, and Dublin.

I have my eyes set on every major European city with Latin America next on the list.

Personal motto: Dharma (from Hinduism. Be kind and good to others and you will receive the same in return from the universe and people around you). I also believe that everything happens for a reason

Idea that changed your life: trip4real, my company! It is a peer-to-peer marketplace for experimental travel.

Most inspired by: traveling, especially sailing

Fashion item you would ban: white socks

Favorite piece in your wardrobe: my little black dress

Biggest extravagance: a fascinator, perfect for weddings or if you go to Ascot!

Can’t bare to spend on: impulsive shopping! Things that for sure I will never use because I bought them without thinking.

Irrational fear of: jellyfish

Brains or beauty: brains!

Audrey or Katharine Hepburn: Katharine. She was a fascinating woman.

Jennifer Lopez or Lawrence: Jennifer Lawrence. She has an outstanding personality.
