With lower temps on the horizon, we're looking to acquire some new pieces. I’ve been thinking about what I should buy this season aside from layers and jackets and interestingly, I’m seeing women creating their own unique styles with classic pieces which inspires me to do the same.
Here’s the plan: instead of spending money and time on a wardrobe that I would only wear this particular season, I will purchase a handful of classic pieces that I can pair with most of my existing outfits.
It makes perfect sense because if you think about it, nothing’s "out of fashion" at this time. Women are still sporting clothes that were trending last year, the year before and so on. Unlike the 1940’s, ‘80s or ‘90s, recent years have been so much more about personal style than fashion.
All we really need to do is add a few chic pieces and have a clever sense of style to get our fall fashion on point. I would, of course, suggest you start by adding a classic white shirt in your wardrobe. You’ll be surprised how well it goes with almost everything.
Here’s an example. For today’s White Shirt Wednesday I’m bringing back one of my favorites and most trending pieces from last year; palazzo pants. Aptly, this is a pair of vintage Bill Blass taffeta pants... still available on 1stDibs.
Just like every other trend right now, these flary pants are still hot if styled perfectly. So all you busy mums out there, take out your best palazzo pants (even better if they’re printed) and pair it with a plain white button down shirt. Tuck the shirt inside and undo the first two buttons. Wear a simple chain necklace, small earrings, a watch and complete the look with wedge sandals. This look is ideal for work, lunch date or casual outings.
Palazzo pants are feminine and elegant, so this look would do very well with a swipe of your favorite lipstick. Just a few easy pieces and you're ready to go!
