Clutches: Blue Chips vs. New Kids

Clutches are one my most favorite accessories so I'm thrilled they're back for yet another season.  We've moved past the sleek understated envelope clutch and onto tricked out minaudierès, and everything in between.  But am I the only one who has noticed the soaring prices of these babiesShoe inflation has been well documented over the last few years but it seems like these itsie-bitsie-it-bags are the latest victims.

What's a girl to do?  Well, you can take my mother's advice and buy one great piece per season (or more likely per year) or you can look to emerging talent.  Below, the Blue Chips and New Kids duke it out.

Here lie some of my most favorite clutches.  I love how wild patterns add some interest to a neutral outfit or add an over-the-top clash to a bold color or print.  Stella's hollogram clutch adds sleek sophistication to a minimalist look while the cobalt blue and hot pink from Hermes and Valentino add a great dash of color.  Frankly, I can't think of any occassion where the nude Saint Laurent wouldn't work.

It-bags are always fab, but a great find from an new young designer or high street shop can mean so much more.  Here are some of my favorites from Etsy, Taigan and more. They're fun, quirky and bold.  The Lego Aga bag and the Laykh clutch are so bright and gorgeous - perfect for transitioning into Spring.  The Chako, Zara, Sass & Bide, Meyer and Mischa clutches add a great texture to any outfit - great as focal points or clashing prints.  The super-cute PS Besitos and Mnologie bags are amazing Etsy finds.
What about you? Any new additions to the old wardrobe?
